Privacy & client rights
Your information deserves careful protection.
This page summarizes website privacy, health-information practices, communication limitations, and important client rights.
Website privacy
This public website provides general information about Empowering Counsel LLC and its services. Merely visiting the site does not establish a therapist-client relationship.
Do not submit sensitive clinical information through ordinary email. Administrative communications may be retained as reasonably necessary to respond to requests, maintain operations, protect the website, and comply with applicable law.
How health information may be used
When you become a client, Empowering Counsel may use or disclose protected health information for treatment, payment, and healthcare operations as permitted by law. Other uses may include public-health and safety activities, legal obligations, workers’ compensation, law enforcement requests, and responding to judicial or administrative proceedings when legally permitted or required.
Uses and disclosures not otherwise permitted generally require your written authorization. You may revoke an authorization in writing, except to the extent action has already been taken in reliance on it.
Your health-information rights
- Request access to or a copy of your health information, subject to applicable limitations.
- Ask for corrections to information you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Request confidential communications in a reasonable alternative manner or location.
- Ask for restrictions on certain uses or disclosures, although not every request must be accepted.
- Request an accounting of certain disclosures.
- Receive a paper or electronic copy of the complete Notice of Privacy Practices.
- Choose someone to act for you when that person has legal authority.
Practice responsibilities
Empowering Counsel is committed to maintaining the privacy and security of protected health information, following the privacy notice currently in effect, and notifying affected individuals when a breach of unsecured protected health information requires notice.
Privacy and security depend on the complete care environment—not only the public website. Clinical intake, records, payments, telehealth, and protected communications are handled through designated practice processes.
